Termite Protection

Termite StalagtiesTermites are social insects and live in colonies which are usually located in the ground or in wood.  Termites feed on cellulose from wood and wood by-products, such as paper.  In South Carolina, termites are usually divided into two groups based on the location of their colony:  The Subterranean and the Drywood Termite.

A termite colony is composed of the Queen, King, winged reproductive swarmers, soldiers and workers.  The worker termite is the most numerous in the colony and is the only caste member that can consume cellulose.  While the homeowner seldom sees the worker termite, it is not uncommon to see the winged reproductives in the spring of the year.  Swarming occurs during the daytime for the Eastern Subterranean Termite and typically follows a warm rain.

Termite Life CycleThe Eastern Subterranean Termite is the most common and widely distributed termite in North America. These termites nest in the ground and construct mud tubes to connect their underground nest to their food source.  Termites can enter buildings through cracks in concrete slabs, expansion joints, hollow block voids or bath trap areas.  Termites also regularly construct mud tubes up the inside or outside of foundation walls to gain access to the structure.

Why Risk It?

Termite control and detection can be a difficult task and is best left to the Professional.  A thorough inspection by a trained Termite Specialist is the first and most important step in protecting your property.  At Atlantic Inc. Pest Management, all of our Termite Inspectors are graduates of Clemson University's Master Termite Technician School.  These individuals are trained and experienced in locating the areas in your home where termites are likely to attack.  Our Termite Specialist can then design a treatment plan for your property using the latest technology available to the industry today.

Sentricon Colony Elimination System:

Sentricon Always Active Baiting

When the Sentricon ® Termite Colony Elimination System was introduced in 1995, it revolutionized termite protection.  Not only did it eliminate termite colonies, it did so in an environmentally responsible way.

Another big reason why homeowners prefer the Sentricon System is that it’s easy to live with. It’s a lot gentler on the home, the yard and the environment than traditional liquid chemical treatments. Plus, ongoing professional monitoring helps homeowners feel secure that termites are no longer a threat.

Maybe that’s the best reason of all. With continued service, you can actually — yes, it’s possible — forget about termites.
